According to the 1901 Census, Emma is listed as having been born in 1890. Her mother was Thirza Wilson, and her father, James Wilson, is recorded as being a farmer. They lived in the Kolapore area: Lot 8, Concession 8.

Farmer, poet and women's rights leader Mrs. Buchanan was a determined hard worker who shared her practices and creativity through her actions and writing. Willard Rorke would have been three months old in this picture. Gertrude Rorke Diller was in fact Willard’s Aunt. His mother had died in either childbirth or a little after his birth. Gertrude Rorke Diller raised Willard.

Betty Rorke died at a young age and Virginia Rorke Mckim died in 1998.
